Jenni is in.
The little pumpkin still broke?
I'm thinking about it. Can't decide between wine tasting in Paso for Zin Fest or the enduro.
-
Yes Donn.
-
I wouldn't race this race. This race is very dangerous. I'm getting chills just thinking about it. ;D
-
I'm in!!!! ;D
-
Cool. That means we are now starting on our second minute! Who is going to ride on a minute with Megan?
-
Lee and I are in, we gave Keith our info last week to prereg.
Norm

;D ;D ;D
I would get some "spray", that way whoever is working the "pits ;D" won't have to get too close :o
Sorry,
I couldn't resist !! ;)

Hi All,
I'm thinking of coming out to this but...I've never rode an Enduro race before can someone plz give me a little more info on how they work?

You leave on a specific minute. Let's use minute 16 for example. Then using a roll chart and clock mounted on your handlebars you keep track of your time and remain on your exact minute. If you arrive to a check late you are penalized with points. If you are early you are penalized double. For your first enduro you should just tag along with someone who knows what they are doing. Stay glued to their rear fender.
They are alot of fun once you figure them out.
-
Good advice to ride with someone that knows how to keep time. There are some tutorials on the internet, Google "enduros" and you'll find them. You need an odometer in addition to what Aaron said. They are fun though, lots more low key than a race. Like a desert race the lopps get progressively harder and the average speed gets faster the farther you go. As a beginner you'll still be one loop. Give it a try, you've got nothing to loose, besides its Red Mountain so its close to you and you know the area.

I'm hoping she will stay behind me so it shouldn't matter!!! :D
-
I just got it! :o
I was thinking it was some Enduro thing I didn't know about.
Poor Megan. :D
-
Poor Megan. :D
Since She is tough enough to race desert/etc, She is tough enough to take a little "ribbin" _.._
-
Little ribbin? I make sure she gets alot of it from me. She almost always takes it in stride.
And just so you guys know the stinky jokes are not actually related to an excessive or abnormal amount of B.O. but due to the fact that the first summer riding together she never washed her riding gear. She just stuffed her gear back in her bag all sweaty in 100+ degree heat. Thank god she started doing laundry.

So instead of Deodorant, we should bring some Tide ;D

Yes!

Route sheets and minute assignments will probably not get sent out by the Prospectors via SASE. But, if you need or are interested in, the route sheet is on the D37 desert message board! KJ

I have the program that makes the roll charts based on possibles, same one that Todd uses. If someone wants I'll make the roll chart and email it if I can.

Hi All,
I'm thinking of coming out to this but...I've never rode an Enduro race before can someone plz give me a little more info on how they work?

Enduros are totally different than a desert race the first loop is a total trail ride with long breaks thrown in to clean goggles drink water and bull crap. Enduros are prefered for people who have raced lots of desert races and are burned out on the danger of the bomb run and the hard push of a race. Lots of twists and turns in an enduro you must stay on course. Very fun but confusing at first. Try it!

Depends on who is trying to understand it!!! JT ??? ;D ;D ;D

Too late for this weekend, but I think I need to try an Enduro out, being VERY OLD, the DS rides, Euro's and possibly the 1st loop of an Enduro might just fit in :-[
-
It's not too late. Just sign up when you get there.
-
Talking to Lee H. this morning, he should be up there mid AM tomorrow. Keith and I will pulling in around the same time, noonish.
Lee has no Arrows or a Flag so if anyone else is coming out tomorrow look for Lee's rig ( white Ford P/U and white Trailer) . Maybe we can get him to put a jersey in his trunk window or somethink..

Too late to get those "nonracerelatedcrapthingsdonebeforeSunday!!"
BUT, I am going to try to make it out anyways, just to say Hi to Y'all ;)
-
I just have to say that Keith Jones is one hell of a guy for going through all the hassle of getting us pre-entered for this. Even if he did use "used" SASE's. Thanks dude.
-
HOPE Y'all have a safe and fun ride tomorrow, and "Big A's" bike stays together ;D

SOOO, howd it go ??
Did Senior Citizen KJ keep up with all them younger types??
I do need to get back to riding ASAP, had enough with spending most of my time working or visiting the Doctors, the Docs still can't pinpoint what ails me :(
See ya soon

Well KJ is certainly no senior citizen. He is a genuine bad ass. He fought through the adversity of riding on a minute plagued with a severe outbreak of Granular Vaginitis to complete the second loop. Norm and Lee called it a day about 10 miles into the beautiful second loop. Jenni had a decent day but had a few hard crashes and got off course and lost a significant amount of time trying to get back. She ended up finding herself riding on beautiful trails with flowers all around. It is clear that she is improving greatly and the XR200 is not mangled this time so I take that as a very good sign. Megan managed to make to the start line 1 minute before it was time to go. She hung in there and I think she had a pretty good finish. Todd Illes fought with his KTM all day. Sounds like he has some valve issues. Him and Jeff Meek rode really fast all day (at least by my standards). They left me in the dust at about the halfway point of the second loop. I finished the bonus section with arms that were Jello, far behind and most likely last in my class.
Decent day for all. No broken bikes. No broken bodies. A nice relaxing time hanging out after the race. Waggy from Dirt Diggers showed up took part in drunken story time...

Just being my usual Dumb @$$ ;D
So Us really OLD guys do one loop ??
-
I feel more like a sorry azz than a bad azz! Still can't feel my monkey butt from all the sitting down. Need to get back in shape if it helps 'OLD AGE'!!! Thought I was getting relief from the last 10 mile 'special' test until the check worker told me I got the pleasure of going straight ahead instead of making the left back to camp :'( The men on minute 28 (AP, TI & JM) were calculating their minutes dropped when I came in. I have yet to count my HOURS ::) I conquered the terrain, but got a serious whipping by the clock!!!
Good weather and great company made the weekend all worth while ;D ;D ;D KJ

Yes, you would have done the 1st loop only! It was a well thought out loop and very doable. The speed averages kept you pushing @ a very brisk pace. 1/2 the 2nd loop was much the same, then the NOT-SO-FUN began!!!
-
I am relatively sure I can make it, just not fast enough to keep up with the rest of Ya :-[
I almost always finish the race/ride but at a slower pace.
Anyone who has ridden with me gets lots of "rest stops" until I catch up.
Got to get in better shape !!
-
Hey Bob, You can do what Lee and do. We ride until its not fun anymore and turn around go back to camp...
Norm

Norm has a good point though. Enduros are not about finishing the entire course. You get scored on how far you go and how many points you accumulate be not being on time. You still get a "finisher" pin, and when do old, fat, slow guys like me and you ever get anything more? ;D

check out DirtRacer pics at http://www.dirtracerpics.com/g/prospectors_enduro_3_21_2010 , if you use the code DRPDiscount you can download the digital filr for $5.00. He was not in the most imaginitive location but for $5............

You can view most the Viewies on pg 10 on minutes 28 and 29!!! Couldn't find Jenni and Megan in the pics???

I found them. I think they are on the next page over.
Try to remember guys. If you have time to make eye contact with the photographer... YOU'RE GOING TO SLOW!

Sparingly? You slathered it on when your G.V. flared up on that second loop and you headed back to the truck.

Yeah I think I finally got it under control - thanks for letting me borrow yours - there is still some left in the tube for you - still interested in the ICO odo? Let me know. - I still works!
