With a spark arrester!
I think he got the message from all of us Pot
Truely a bummer to plan on racing and then being told NOT TODAY! :'(
-
We have a new name for Vince SPARKY Balsitis
-
D,P and I will be working the pits and want to camp up there so anyone getting their before us please fine something fairly close (walking distance) to Pit Row.
I know some of the "Racers" may want to get some sleep and perfur to camp somewhere else and that may happen, but we need access to our stuff throughout the day.
Hopefully we can all hang out together...

Last year was a great spot and it was very quite camping on the pit row where we were.
-
I know I originally posted that we were going but now not sure.
-
Howd it go ??
-
Don't have all the details but sounds like Gumbo broke his collar bone.
-
Yep broken collar bone.... heading home then the emergency room to get checked out, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who stayed, and sorry for keeping everyone waiting out there so late
-Gumby
-
Just try and feel better, hope it isn't too serious. Don't worry about keeping everyone waiting, this is a prime example of what being in our club is all about. They stayed for you just like you would have stayed for them.
Heal quickly,
-
What the heck happened Gumby?
-
First off there was not one Viewe that even asked about leaving before Gumby was back in and that was truly outstanding. Gumby thought he had enough fuel to make the mileage. Everyone questioned it but he assured us he was good to go as it turns out he was not. Once Josh, James and Pete found him, he got fuel just before dark and was coming back in then he hit something on the back side of victor pass and put him on the ground and the game changed. Josh and James came back to get a truck and Pete stayed with him. When it was all said and done Norm and James when out in the truck to pick Gumby and Pete up with some help from HBMC that was out getting one of their riders everyone was back in the pits at about 7:00pm.
There was a few take aways from this deal; if a club member is stopped always always stop to determine what is going on and if the member waves you by stop anyway. We had two ride by Gumby he waved them by or give the thumbs up so they did not stop therefore no one had any idea what was wrong. By knowing what the problem was it may have made a difference on how this all turned out. It is very important to get word back to the pits.
In review:
1: always stop for a club member 2: If you are broke down stop all club members and let them know what your status is. 3: make sure all new members know this drill.

Very good points CB. This can be found in the "Members Tools" section but here is the link.

Print out the Stuck Stub form and carry some with you. Don't forget the pencil and a razor or knife to sharpen it or even a pencil sharpener! A pen may not work when needed.
Fill them out so you can quickly hand them to someone(s). This way the word can get back to the pits and not be misheard or take much time to pass on when it is non critical.
Non of us wants to hold up someone else race but this can be passed very quickly.
Since it wasn't mentioned yet, So Cal member Lance Black was killed yesterday in an unseen crash. It is very sad to hear and a reminder how short life is. Please take time to think about his family and send your condolences if you wish.
-
Yea I sent a stuck stub with an earlier rider with the exact problem and where I was on the course I guess the info wasn't relayed well
-
Good job gumby, how are you feeling?
-
Hope the healing process is quick and as pain free as possible Gumby
Very sad to hear of Lance Black's death, RIP.

Heal quickly,
Besides the many friendships we have made belonging to the Viewfinders, this is a VERY GOOD reason to belong to a club.
I read over at D-37 that the Jenkings helped another rider out who was having bike problems, VERY COOL in my book.
-
Thanks everyone, im doing all right. The doctors said the break is bad enough im going to need surgery so tomorrow night im going under the knife
-gumby
-
Good Luck Gumby,
keep us posted
-
Sorry to hear about the surgery. Let us know if you need anything and make sure you let us know how things went.
-
Hey Gumby, sounds like you are doing well under the circumstances. Charles said you sounded pretty good today. Sorry the injury requires surgery but glad it is being taken care of quickly. :-(~. We will check in with you or your Dad in a day or two to see how you are doing. Good luck :(
-
Kyle told me you got hurt and ran out of gas, didn't realize it was not on course, total bummer.
There should be stuck stubs and pencils in the pit box/bag. If they're not there let me know and I'll print a bunch more. The pencils came from Staples and there should be a bunch as well, again let me know. I did this a couple of years ago when I was pit Nazi. Very surprised the stuck stub didn't work, when Brian broke his case at DD I took the stub to the next check and by the time I finished Russ was on his way to retreive him. Did someone forget to give the stub to the next check?
Kudos to my Viewie brothers for being the tight nit club we are.
Heal up quick Gumby, we need you out there!
So who all raced this one? Sounds like typical DMC carnage. And they wonder why their entries are down ???

Thanks for all the support everyone.... I think the surgery has really helped. On a side note I now no why everyone loves pain killers
-gumby
-
Glad everything went well Gumby. Watch out for those pain killers. Personally they don't do anything for me, still have a full bottle of Vicodin and never picked up a 2nd prescription I got.
Let's us know if you need anything.

I complained about the vicodin not doing anything in spite of taking 2 every 2 hours, so they gave me Oxycondin, much better, but still didn't last 4 -6 hours like its supposed to.
-
Yea thankfully I can really tell the difference about half an hr after taking the vicoden

Lesson #2
Don't run out of gas and you won't need to ride back at "Dark Thirty" :P
-
Watch out for the side effects of that Vicodin, it tends to stop things up a bit, if you know what I mean ;)

That's an added bonus. You don't have to get off the couch when you are in pain.

You think the pain that bothers you enough to take the Vicodin in the first place is bad, wait until your not able to take a DUMP for 3-4 days because of the Vic :'(
