Title: The training begins.
Post by: Chris Cory - President 2012-14 -Life Memeber on February 17, 2013, 10:29:37 pm
Ok Piper watch out I am gunning for you!  ;D
Well you have to have a goal to shoot for right?
We took a hike today up to Devils Chair at the Devils Punch bowl. It was around 7.5 miles and was a pretty good work out. Lots of good long uphills to work out the legs. Nate was a real trooper and is also in training to help with his riding.  :D
Not to many of you are close enough to it but if you are, it is a good hike in the mountains.
Now I just have to make sure I get off my chair and walk into the Gym everyday and keep the workout going! That of course is the hard part.  :P

I didn't take it as a zinger Donn, more of a simple fact. Piper only has 2 more rides before he gets his red strip I believe so he will be long gone before I get up to speed.  :P
SO who is up for being my Huckleberry?  ;D
Lets get some inner club challenges going!  Pot

I believe Gumby' would be the one to try to catch that young man is hauling ass these days' it will take some serious training because I know he trains seriously

I hear he's not been going to the extreme boot camp, too many "distractions" for the young man.

Yeah I know, still trying to figuring out this trash talk stuff.  ;D

I was actually only 7 minutes behind Gumby coming into the pits so I was closer to him than Piper. The 2nd loop I faded big time though so that is where I can make my biggest improvements.
I think Gumby's new work out plan may not do his bike riding skills any favors but he probably likes it a little more.  :P

Lets see:
BMac has a red bar
Gary has a red bar
Piper soon to have a red bar
I think that leaves Hudy, Sean, Chris to duke it out ??

Im your huckleberry!! Of course the are rules, you gotta chug a beer after the banner drops, and you have to have one in the pits also.  While in the pits you need to eat a hotdog (cooked is optional).

Whos up to the challenge?

Thanks Hudy but I am looking for inspiration to go faster, not ride like you normally do!  ;D   :-(~
The beers and raw hot dogs would explain it I guess.  :P

Yes Booger is on my radar too. I only have 1 transfer and in a bigger class so I know he will be getting his red bar much sooner than me.

Another 5 mile hike yesterday. This one was a pretty good uphill climb and was not fun getting to the top. It pretty much just starts at the bottom of the hill and heads up. It is so steep in places that coming back done is hard not to slide. I am in a lot better shape than when I started but still have a long way to go! It does feel good to be getting into shape though.

Here is a short way up and our car is parked on that road in the middle of the picture.

Here is about half way up the steep part of the trail. Notice the where the car is now?

This is at the top. See the lite green valley way down in the middle of the picture? That is where the car is!
Canyon Country is what you see it the upper part of the picture.

Another picture from the top but looking down on the San Fernando Valley which is on the opposite side of the mountain.
