Yep congrats to Sage he was looking good when he came by when i was sitting at check 7.

what can i say... i couldnt handle the heat.  I got off to a decent start was about 20th at the end of the bomb and worked my way up and lead my class for part of the first loop and came into the pits second in class and about 6th amateur (according to my dad).  Went out on the second loop pushed some more caught first again and was battling it out for a while, then my lines started to get wider and i was bouncing off every rock out there.  I started to make stupid decisions almost went down hard a couple of times in the rocks.  I made within about a mile of check 7 when i just couldnt physically keep the bike up in a sandy rocky canyon anymore and was resting my head on the handle bars of the bike.  Soon after i saw rescue 3 coming into the canyon and they helped me out and took me to check 7.

I came to the conclusion just riding a gp since breaking my collar bone didnt give me enough time on the bike to get me back into shape and ready for a National in 100 degree weather.

Good for you to listen to your body and not get yourself into trouble. Heat stroke is VERY serious, just ask Bob Koch of Lost Coyotes! They're always more races.

YEP, listen to Your body
I learned the hard way about 2 years ago, I knew things were not right, but I decided to finish up the yard work first.
Wrong decision !!   I was dehydrated and finally passed out.

You have lots of races in your future.

Sage did well, despite a longer than normal pit stop.
The quick fill wasn't so quick and I was trying to figure what was wrong, but We got Him on his way and He did a great job.
Thanks to all the help we had, I am terrible with names, but We had a good group (6)  and 3 HOT DOGS !!  ;D
We had to get a "rescue party" going for Gumby, but He made it in safely on His own. Julian was loaded up and headed out to get Gumby when they passed each other, so all went well.
Bob J, Lila, Julian, Mark (Sage's Dad) and 2 ladies, again sorry I can't recall their names, but they all helped get the job done. A little help with the names Charlie ??
I always worry when listening to the radio when I hear of someone needing help, this time it was one of Our own, but it was all good in the end.
Next year I think I may pick another race to pit, so I can do Ride For Kids, but who knows  ::)
I look forward to working the pits, several hours of boredum, puntuated by a few minutes here and there of adrenalin rush.

Can't believe how hot it's been out there. Good job Gumby for getting back out there.

It was in the upper 90's, one rider had to be flown out with "heat Stroke" and many suffered from the unexpected heat.
Glad everyone made in safely
