District 37 Competition Committee April 12, 2012
1) Meeting called to order by Joe Bianchi, District Referee. Attendance and minutes taken by Janine Kohls, Secretary. Stewards present: Neale Aulakh, Dan Barnett, Keith and Kelly DeJongh, Stacy Doerksen, Ryan Kudla, Tom Purdy, Greg Seda. Guests: Jerry Grabow, Ken Durr, Dave Wasden, Ed Moore, Max Eddy, Sr., Max Eddy, Jr., Brad Pace.
2) Minutes of March 8, 2012 meeting reviewed and approved as presented.
3) Rider Protest of DQ at Checkers H&H. Joe Bianchi read to the stewards the written protest submitted by Max Eddy, Jr. regarding a DQ at the Checkers race. Max then described the incident. Ken Durr spoke on behalf of the Checkers. After asking questions of the rider and of the club, the stewards voted in favor of the rider. Max Eddy, Jr.?s finish at Checkers H&H will be reinstated.
4) Scoring Prairie Dogs/Glen Helen 24 Hour Race. The stewards briefly discussed scoring and team skill level matters at the 24 hour race. No action was taken on this matter.
5) Late Race Results. A motion was made to penalize all members of any club whose race results are submitted late by deducting 50% of each member?s work points. After a brief discussion, the motion passed. The motion will become effective as of the first race after the summer break.
6) Steward Expense Reports. Joe reminded the stewards to submit expense reports regularly. He also asked the stewards to watch postage expenses and not to mail year-end trophies to riders.
7) September 30 Transfer Rule. The stewards discussed the September 30 transfer rule and agreed that any rider eligible to move up to the next skill level after September 30 must contact his/her steward and request the bump.
8) Non-District 37 Skill Levels. The stewards discussed riders signing up in the expert skill level in other racing series, then requesting expert status in District 37. After discussion the stewards agreed that expert status earned in any AMA sanctioned racing series could be honored in District 37. Non- AMA sanctioned series will not be considered.
9) District 37 Licenses. The stewards clarified that a rider from any AMA district can ride in District 37 without purchasing a D37 license.
10) Meeting adjourned at 9:10 p.m.
