Title: THANK YOU SEEMS TOO SMALL...
Post by: Kandy on November 09, 2009, 09:50:59 am
Once again, I can't thank the BEST Club enough for all of your support. When the call came in that Johann had fallen into a mineshaft, it took the entire camp about 2 minutes to start formulating a rescue plan, get gear together, etc. You guys risked injury to yourselves (cable and ropes snapping) to complete the bike rescue and after viewing the pictures and video, I am still shakey thinking about what Yo (Shaft) went through. THANK YOU to everyone out there for sacrificing your bodies, equipment and day off to help us out. We thought for sure Yo would want to go home Saturday night, but he said he wanted to hang out with all his Viewfinder friends. All of you mean so much to him. Lemoine gets extra credit for actually descending into the shaft (the photos of you are incredible).

He is resting not so comfortably at home today and should be back to his normal self soon. He will get back on a bike again, although right now he says he's "just gonna chill in the Rhino with Mom next time"!  ;) I am glad you were all able to hold the field events (although a little later than planned). The washer tournament was insane (Congrats to James and Nic for the win!) and the club outdid itself with that potluck! What other group could pull of feeding 100 people in the middle of the dez with such great food?!

YIKES!!!! I just saw the picture of his bike in the mine shaft on the district board.  I'm glad to hear that he is alright and to hear that we have such an awesome group of people that would do something like that.

Hope you feel better Johann

SOOOOO GLAD "Shaft" is doing O K.

The trip over there was an adventure in itself, so I would not say we sacrified our day off,
got in some "Extreme Rhinoing" (sp)

Thats one of the reasons I love being in the Viewfinders, were all like Brothers and Sisters and watch out for each other and will go the "extra mile" to help as needed.

No thanks are needed as everyone knows. This isn't just a club, it is a 2nd family. Most of us have had something happen that really shook us up so it will just take him a little time to get back to normal. Falling down a hole would be one of the worst things that someone could go through as far as I am concerned. Tell our buddy that we are all thinking about him and hope his aches and pains go away quickly.

Here are the pictures I posted on D37.

Glad to hear "Shaft" is on the road to feeling better.  Tami and I are wishing a bunch of good Mo-Jo his way for a quick recovery.

Is there ever a doubt as to what to do with our club? HELL NO, whatever needs to be done is done, no questions asked. This is one of the reasons I wear Goldenrod and Black, I know someone always has my back. We're also very proud of "Shaft" he hung in there and wouldn't even think of going home while the rest of his Viewie family was there. Way to go Shaft, you'll be back on the big Green real soon I'm sure. Heal up real good first though!

Too bad you missed it Matt, it was a lot of fun, once we got Johann back to Mom.

Yea, it sounds like it was a blast.  Am I getting this right, James Jenkins and someone else won the washers game? Or is that another James, because I didn't think that James would be coordinated enough to do something like that.

Oh yea, I read about your special award from Charlie Barney on the District board.  You probably deserved it.

Yes it was James Jenkins and Nic Garvin that won.

No one has mentioned it but the other big winner for the weekend was Johann!
He got the best crash award and a 5' tall trophy to go with it! Only bad part was he was to sore to carry it away.
Congrats again Johann but next trying winning with a little LESS of a crash would you?  ;)

It means alot to me to see this friendship and comaradere among all the Viewies. You guys are a great club, altho this means nothing coming from a lowly Digger! We are so relieved that "Shaft" is doing ok! In my experiences on bikes, a crash like that would be one of the scariest I believe! Hang in there Shaft, and quit scarin' the crap out of youre family like that!  :)(:

Thank you all for saving my baby bruddah and his moto! He is resting much more comfortably today at home than he was a few days ago .. He's still VERY VERY sore, and we anticipate he will be for a while.

My friends that came out were blown away by how the club works... Unfortunately they got to see how things down haha ... Thanks to yet another Thornton ride.. he was just missing the Barney part of it ... but on another hand, it was fortunate they got to see how quickly things are handled, how organized everyone is, etc. etc. GREAT JOB to everyone. Eric L you're a mad man! I was blown away when we showed up after you were skiing in the backseat of course, and you jumped right into that "hole"! Thank you for your bravery!

I hope the drama didn't scare away your friends. I only got to meet T.J. when we were on our "extraction" mission, seems like a nice guy. Maybe they'll come out again, under better circumstances.

Did anyone get the coordinates of the mine shaft? Apparently BLM could not find it from the description John provided. If there are any other pictures that would help let me know so we can get them to the Ridgecrest office, they are trying to find the shaft and protect it before Thanksgiving.

I think Norm was sliding sideways enough on the way there that they should be able to still follow the tracks he left.

I've been in direct contact with a Dana Jacobs who is the BLM Officer for that area of land and she is working hard on locating the mine and marking it.
