District 37 Competition Committee
Meeting for July 9, 2009

I.   Meeting called to order by Richie Wohlers, District Referee

II.   Attendance taken by Jannean Sapp. Stewards present are: Ryan Wilson, Heather Gongora Keith DeJongh, Chris Asquith, Devon Rich and Dan Barnett.

Special Guests: Joe Bianchi

III.   Discussions:
1.   Class Transfers:
a.   A brief discussion was held in regards to class transfers due to a recent issue of racers getting bumped in one division (ex: Novice to Intermediate in GP) but not taking the bump in other divisions due to a lack of communication between the stewards.
b.   The following rule change located under ?Riders Classification System?, section 8, Page 45 was voted on and agreed unanimously to take effect:
i.   Original rule read as follows:
1.   ?Changes in rider classification become effective immediately upon notification from the Competition Committee.?
ii.   New rule proposal:
1.   ?Changes in rider classification become effective immediately upon notification from the Steward or Competition Committee, effective immediately in all divisions.?
iii.   Rule to take effect starting January 2010

2.   AMA Protest Fee Conflict
a.   A discussion was held to have our rules about fees located on pages 20-21, section 17 matches what the AMA charges located on page 152 of the AMA rulebook.
b.   Fees collected would go to AMA, no to the other rider
c.   The change was voted on and passed unanimously.

3.   Night Race Formats & Rules
a.   There was a brief discussion about suggestions and ideas about setting-up a set of rules & formats for the night race events.
b.   Further discussion was postponed until the August 13th meeting so as to be able to get more information.

4.   Minor Release
a.   A discussion was held in regards to minor releases. The one of following is required for any minor racing a D37 event:
i.   Minor must have an AMA minor release card that will allow only one parent or guardian to be present.
ii.   If they do not have the card, both parents must be present to be notarized by a notary.
