Just saw the following on  my Facebook page. Kari was hit by a car last night and is in critical condition.  She just got out of surgery again and the Dr was pleased with her progress but a lot of recovery will be needed.  Please keep the new Nay Family in your thoughts.

I have some good news to report, Kari's breathing tube was removed and she's come out of her anesthesia induced stupor and is talking up a storm. Her first words, after she told Kyle "I Love You" is "how's Degan, how's mom, dad" etc. always thinking of others. I cannot thank our friends and family enough for all the support through this so far, it has been phenomenal. And the generosity at the G.P. from everyone was very heart warming for both Kyle and I. I've always said what a wonderful extended family we have with The Viewfinders and District 37 and it really shows at times like this.

Another big thank you to Steve Vachon and Jason Schalow for taking on the start responsibilities when it became apparent that we would not make it (and thank you Hudy for giving us a nice station to work when Brian and I were able to make it).

The club means a lot to us, and me. Once again I apologize for not taking on the Presidency at this time. Hopefully we'll get our lives in order over the course of the next 12 months and I can step up next year.

Love,
The Nays

Continued good news, Kari is in a regular room now (room 215B, not private but NOT ICU). They were removing the feeding tube yesterday so she should be able to start eating today. Healing is moving along, P.T. is happening daily, what they can work on. Degan says his Mommy is Super Mom! We agree.

If anyone is in the Burbank area Saturday evening we're having a big fundraiser for Kari and Kyle. It is at The Hollywood Way Bar and Grille located on Hollywood Way just south of Burbank Blvd. (for all you old time racers it is next to Burbank Kawasaki, which used to be Triumph of Burbank, sponsor of Eddie Mulder and many others). A portion of the night's receipts goes to the kids. Also have a 42" flat screen Smart T.V. that a good friend donated that will be raffled off.

Please stop in and say Hi and have a drink/beer. Food is fabulous too.

Big shout out to The Jenkins and Flat Tire Bill and Trevlyn for coming out to support Kari and Kyle. Talked to Bill yesterday and they had a good time and met a lot of our friends. We don't have the figures yet but I'm sure we raised a LOT of money for the kids, the place was VERY busy from before 6:00 to midnight according to Bubba (we left around 10:00). At one point I looked around and every table was full and all but two were friends of our and/or the kids, very impressive.

We also raffled off a T.V. and brought in $1,500.00!

Thanks again to our wonderful Viewfinder family, you guys/gals are AWESOME!

Kari is doing better every day, working with a pain management specialist is helping she said Sunday was much better than Saturday. If anyone is in the area of Henry Mayo and wants to visit please stop in and see her, if she's tired she'll tell you but she needs the companionship and encouragement, she's pretty depressed. Kyle went back to work this morning so she's on her own most of the day now.

Another update for you non-facebookers. Kari is once again improving quickly, had a setback two weeks ago but back in acute rehab with PT 3x per day. Kyle thinks she'll be released from there within a week or so, not sure if its to go home or to a less-intense rehab/SNF. They're moving in with us when she's released for good.

In the meantime my Mother fell and broke her hip and is in SNF in Burbank since 10.24. I think I'm being tested!

Kari still there, xrays last night, hope to hear the results today or tomorrow. Sure would be nice to have her at our house for Thanksgiving.

Mom is doing REMARKABLE! 80 years old and walking without assistance other than an occasional cane. Sure helps when you're active! she was on her way from the gym when she fell entering a retail store and she plays doubles tennis a couple times a month. Steve and Betty got by to see her this weekend and gave her the cards the club and racers signed, made her tear up. Thanks again for the support.

I think we'll get through this!

Another update:

Kari is HOME! She was officially released from the hospital Sunday and they are living with us.

She needs help with just about everything but hopefully with her family around her she will heal faster. She's dependent on a wheel chair (THANK YOU CHARLIE BARNEY!) and is supposed to keep her legs elevated as much as possible.
