Title: UEA Enduro Roll Call
Post by: Aaron Price on November 23, 2009, 05:33:49 am
Ok folks I have numerous people talked into it.  We are looking to get two full Viewfinder minutes.  More if possible since I think I may have talked two minutes worth into it already.  Since there has been a big push by the Club Seceratary and G.P. rep I know that he will also buy a trail tech computer and do the Enduro Series next year.  (Yes I am putting words in your mouth Chris, it is for a good cause so I am sure you understand completely.

I know it's early but it would be nice to have it all squared away when it comes time to pre-enter so that we can make it almost a trail ride with our buddies.

Bump. Flier came this weekend.   New season.  New bike (not 300 pounds) New (to me Acerbis Zoom chest protector to replace the mutilated one) New Rekluse clutch,  Very exciting.  We have one full minute ready to sign up.  Do I hear two minutes...?  Paul, Brian, Andre, Chris Donn, Klink, Bob, Pete?  Yes, I am calling you out!  Where are you guys????  We have fresh stock of Mangisil so you have no excuse not to race.

After all that talk about doing more races next year I expect to see some of you guys out there!

Hey Chris! How about a flier on this thread?

There you go!

I won't be able to make this one, things are pretty full for me already.

I will be going out New Years with fellow Viewies, at Jackrabbits on the 10th, Vegas the 21st-24th and then Dirt Diggers Feb 6th and hopefully Four Aces on Feb 14th.
I do hope to put my money where my mouth is for more races next year. I just hope things stay busy at work.  ;)

Bob ?  Yes, I am calling you out!  Where are you guys????  We have fresh stock of Mangisil so you have no excuse not to race.

Guess I will have to take the "Mangisil" award for this race, and a few others   :'(

I get to go riding on N Y weekend, then finish some home projects that I have been neglecting for several years.  I need to put all my efforts into this and get R done ASAP so I can get back to riding/racing.
Second reason I need to get the projects done is so I can get my shed/garage cleared out of the materials etc and use it for storing the Rhino and bikes like it is supposed to be for.  ::)

Yes Gumby!  That is the spirit!  I can't wait for our first open desert race together. We now have matching bikes and chest protectors. If it wasn't for the fact that you have those awesome vintage pants we might have some confusion in the pits.

By the way have you done any suspension work to your 200?  What mix are you running in your gas?

im running 50/1 in my gas and my dad has done my suspension and its working awesome.  What year bike did u get my dad might be able to help u out with the suspension.  So does that mean we are in the same class now?

Dont blame the shoulder surgery on all the front tire changes we have been doing on the Katoom (though lately it feels like the Ka DOOM!) I will see ya next week. Dont think i got anything from D37 when I signed up at RHR.  Havent got any permanent number or anything.  I will check tommorow when I get back home.  If there is something I am supposed to do, please let me know.  This whole desert racing/riding thing is super new to me (thanks Brian!).

Happy holidays to all

You wont be getting them until towards the end of the month. The final standing need to be "final" before they can send the numbers out.

Lee and I have sent our stuff off, Paul wants to race also but I'm sure he has not done anything yet. I will be seeing him this weekend, so as of now we will need 1 more person on our minute. We many enter the morning of the race and just sign up together.
We could use someone with the timing stuff and knows how to use it, cusz we have no idea.

No no, enduros are far more important!  It is like having the best parts of a race mixed with a trail ride with your buddies. If I were rich and had more time I would only do the enduros and night races in district 37 and add in the district 36 enduros.

I'll take the fourth spot on your minute Norm. I have the odo and roll chart holder but need some help with the timing deal. I have a clock but don't remember if its got seconds but I think it does. If you want someone else that has experience/enduro computer I understand. I'm a one looper though.

Signing up the day of is fine with me. I really want to figure out the time keeping thing. I alredy have the roll chart holder and odometer for DS rides and getting a clock is not a big deal. Just need to figure out how to use them!! I'm going to work on that though.

I'm in if you want to do it, the date works out well with my plans as there is a DS ride in ridgecrest 2 weeks after that.

I just ordered a clock on ebay and that should complete my timekeeping equip. since I already have a odo and roll chart holder. According to the flier they have a "clinic" on Saturday before the enduro so maybe that will help.

Hey Donn,

A ICO procomp enduro computer just magically landed on the handle bars on my bike,  I am currently trying to figger out how to program the thing - I think I'll be successfull - however keep on with the roll chart thing just in case I go over the handle bars like last year!

Well I need to figure out the clock/odo thing as I don't see spending the dough for an ICO in the near future. Besides I'm not trying to be competitive, just have fun.

I have a roll chart program on my laptop that I Devon turned me on to. When they post the route next week I'm going to play with that. She said it was easy and intuitive. And it might help me understand this stuff better.

As a B rider Norm goes 2 loops??? Do senior novices (Lee) go 1 loop or 2 ???

As a B rider Norm goes 2 loops??? Do senior novices (Lee) go 1 loop or 2 ???

To quote the rule book, Article IX Section 3.q, ""B" Women, 30+(Vet)s, 40+(Sr)s and 50+ (Mag)s will ride the same distance as other "B" riders, except as noted below. "C" 30+(Vet)s and 40+(Sr)s will ride the same distance as other "C"riders. "C" Women, ""C" Senior Women and "C" 50+(Mag)s will ride one loop and receive 70% of the finish position points.

So it looks like Norm and Lee are two loopers, just REALLY OLD and SLOW guys like me do one loop.

That's OK, part of my job as district rep. This is quoted from the 2009 rulebook. I missed last weeks meeting so didn't get a 2010 copy but I know that section hasn't changed, it was recently updated to show Mag C to be the same as Mag novice.

KJ must have done really well judging by how he was bragging after the race  >:(    Donn lost half a lung somewhere on the first loop then came back to camp and hacked up the other half.  Lee had odo problems and ended up just riding.  I think Mr. President overalled the first loop.  (actually I just can't remember what he did.  They all however beat me.    :'(

Had a recovery mission to pick up Aaron and his broke down "new" KTM. That was after I finished my one loop. Been fighting that damn cold since New Years and it didn't make it any easier to try to "race". I think I dropped like 800 points on the first loop, it certainly wasn't "family friendly" as advertised.

Fun weeked... Good to see everyone!
Thanks to Jacob Clements for riding the poker run with me in the rhino - that sandwash was a blast!

Donn gets much respect for riding with half a lung intact; flat Mat lived up to his name; Lee said Fifty isn't nifty  trying to ride after a 4 day cruise; Gumby also rode injured - burned his hand that morning on a hot skillet handle, sucked it up and rode; Good to see Toodles, Jeff Clements, Mr. Miagi, Yard Sale Price and Jonesy lining up this weekend!

First Aaron blamed the Husky for not finishing, now the KTM, Hmmm ??

I know what you mean "fighting that damn cold", I tried to beat it, but it beat me, I feel 150% better after a week of antibiotics, antihistimines, cough medicine  :o

I finally gave in and went to the doctor yesterday. Come to find out it's only a cold! But its lingered now for three + weekds! Sorry, no great and wonderful stories that I rode the enduro with pneumonia.

Kinda surprised Donn... we were loving the story about you riding with pneumonia with one lung tied behind your back.. Take care of yourself, you don't want it getting any worse.

SOO Howd Ya'll do out Dere  ???

I think Gumby did pretty well.  He at least finished all 3 loops. :'(
Jonathan might be stud it's hard to tell as he only speaks when spoken to. I heard so much whinning after the first loop I thought I was in Napa. We asked Jonathan how"s your hand after the first loop he said "it hurts" Are you going to do another loop? "Yep".

Out of 9 members only 2 finished their required loops! Don't let the other OLD GUYS tell ya they only had to do 1 loop??? They should have read the riders instructions ::) Fortunately enduros get a finish if you start and go like 200 yards. NO desert points though ;D Gumby did man up w/ the burnt hand! Way to go!!! I need to thank Julian for fixing my fuel problem Saturday night or I may have been a casualty also!! _.._ _.._ _.._

Not true Mr. Jones. The riders instructions were wrong. Mag. Nov. onlly goes one loop per D37 rules. So Lee and I SHOULD get a "finish" although as of right now they show me DQ for not going the distance, how does that work? But they show Norm as just ponts down for only doing one of the two loops he was required to do. We'll wait and see what the real "unofficial results" have to say. I've already contacted Ryan Wilson and he is aware of the conflict. I tried to straighten it out on Saturday but nobody wanted to listen.

But the real stud is Gumby. First riding with second degree burns on his right hand, second for toughing it out and finishing all 3 loops, even after his time keeper dropped out.

Yea, but didn't see your sorry ass out there did we? Something about, "I won't ride if its only going to be one loop, not worth it". I think your pussy hurt before you even started.

Yes, Mr. Rulebook did  explain this on trhe message board, but then I heard someone had discussed this w/ the ref and his point is that it is a club discrectionary thing. Wondered why the 3 of you were in street clothes when we finished loop 2 ??? You weren't on any of Aaron's meds were you?  :D
