I just put on another hat!

Well as if I didn't have enough to do already, I just put on another hat. Nate just joined Cub Scouts and since it is a new troop here in Acton, it is starting from scratch. His den needed a den leader and since the two other boys joining just have single moms, I volunteered to be the den leader at least for now. The moms are going to assistant den leaders. I was hoping it would be an established pack but it is at least stating off with a good size bunch of kids.

I am hoping someone more experienced will come along but for now, I will do my best for the kids. Nate is excited and we went and bought his uniform today. I am now downloading a bunch of materials to help me out. 

P.S. I did tell them that racing will come first!

Interesting that i was in SoCal  (Silverado) at a baby shower/ house warming party this Saturday. I took w/ me my Cub Scout scrap book (1964 vintage) to share pictures of the canyon and our youth activities of 50 years ago. You Go Den Father!!! Nate will have fun!!!

So I have been moonlighting, sorry. 

I stepped in and built a website for the cub scout pack. It is the same software that the Big 6 website uses and I have been learning all week how to work on it. I had to install it on my web server which was a learning experience and then I went through and set it all up. It has been fun learning how to do it and it still needs a lot of work but it is coming together.

I thought this was for the kids, not the parents.

It is but we need the parents to bring in the kids. Lack of parent involvement is why the pack fell apart before. Also it will be used as advertising to get people aware of the pack and hopefully get them interested in joining. Lots of the packs and troops have websites and some have Facebook's too. I just added the calendar to it yesterday and it will be a good tool to let everyone know what is coming up and things like that. Click on the event and it even brings up Google maps so you can see where it is and get directions if needed.

Oh and kids are on the internet too, Nate uses the computer all the time.

You should be telling our moderators Donn, Vince or Hudy. 
The table used for the pit schedule can be confusing at first but I can go over how it works with them. I will try to get to it today though. I am driving right now so I can do something like that.
